Weird experiment…. Killing a halogen lamp whichh quartz bulb is already removed. So when powered the tungsten filament is exposed to air. I immerse the filament into a KClO3 + sugar mixture and then slowly apply power to the filament which will ignite the mixture….

Halogen Screen Printing Light

How to build a cheap 500 Watt halogen light stand for exposing screen printing screens. What You’ll Need: 500 Watt Halogen Worklight (got mine for .99 at Home Depot after Thanksgiving) an 8-foot stick of 1″ PVC Schedule 40 pipe 1″ PVC elbows x 4 1″ PVC couplers x 2 1″ PVC pipe plugs x 2 (the flat-topped ones) 1″ PVC tees x 2 1″ PVC pipe caps (the rounded-topped ones) 1″ long 1/4″ bolts with nuts; slotted button head x 2 Note: all the PVC fittings are SLIP FIT… no threads! The H 4 halogen lamp did survive in ice. I expected the quartz glass to crack but that didn’t happen. Surprised that the thermal stress on the glass 500° inside and 0° outside, didn’t cause a faillure as the outside normally is subjected to the air. I increased the voltage to about 17 volts , the lamp current was over 7 Amps! Then the filament burnt out.
