Tube Terminator®
The Tube Terminator, from CMA EcoCycle, is a portable computer controlled machine designed to safely crush lighting waste including mercury containing fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent, and high intensity discharge (HID) lamps. There are two machines; one that handles fluorescent tubes (F version) and another that handles HID lamps (H version). Both machines can process CFLs, incandescent and halogen lamps. Highly toxic mercury vapour is contained. The wastes bulk is reduced by about 80%, allowing for cheaper transport and reduced carbon footprint. The mercury can then be recovered and, along with the other materials, recycled in an EPA licenced mercury recycling facility such as the CMA EcoCycle plant.
