Do these 'xenon' bulbs require an upgrade kit?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/2-x-Bike-Car-Tyre-Valve-Caps-Light-Lamp-Wheel-Neon-LED-/280436006840?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item414b49dfb8

I am curious if these require a xenon upgrade kit or are infact halogen bulbs tinted blue to looklike the xenon style. I read the xenon’s use an arc to produce light rather then a filament however in the picture these look like they have a filament. If so can they just replace my current, yellowish halogen bulbs in a ’06 mitsubishi lancer.

Cheers

Xenon short arc lamp bench test

Here we’re running an Osram 1.6kW xenon short arc lamp on the bench, using a home built igniter, and a couple of Delta-Q battery chargers as a power supply. The lamp needs about 64A, and our chargers only put out 40A, so we’re limited to about 1kW with the lamp dropping 25V. We also have no cooling yet, so the run time is limited to a few seconds. We did get the lamp running, but the arc was slightly unstable, probably due to the lack of arc stabilization magnets when running the lamp horizontally.

HID spotlight

(background info) I’m trying to get my sleep schedule back on track. After playing 4 continuous gameplay hours of BIOSHOCK on 360 – I had to find something to do till the morning. So after cleaning my shop for an hour, I came across an old spotlight. The battery was dead, and I didn’t much care for it. So I started to gut the light and switch when I got the idea for making an HID spotlight. luckily I had 4 spare ballasts and matching 10K 9005 lamps. After modifying the case, cutting some holes, finding a battery and working out the bugs – IT WORKS! Time used ~2.5hrs

Xenon short arc lamp – DIY searchlight

Same setup as my last video, a 1.6kW xenon short arc lamp, being run at about 1kW. A Fresnel lens and mirror directs the light up into the sky.

Can you replace the Xenon bulbs by yourself?

I have a 2003 Saab 9-5 Arc and one of my Xenon headlights has turned pink-ish. The other one is very blue/white and looks like new. I was wondering if it was possible to replace the bulb yourself or if it would have to be done by a professional. Or could it be something else other than the bulb?
